For Those of You That Don’t Know (And Care About Snakes)

xibalbadance:

The show “Killer Karaoke” is a new show that is being produced by truTV. Steve-O from Jackass is the host.

Now, what this show does is take contestants and makes them sing in extreme situations. Sounds fun, right?

Yeah, it would be if it weren’t for the horrific animal abuse that is popping up in its show!

These snakes featured in this picture are actually types of snakes that are NOT aquatic. Meaning, once these snakes hit the water, they breathe it in. They are prone to infections and respiratory problems later.

Oh, not to mention that the water is COLD and these are COLD BLOODED ANIMALS. That means, for those that don’t know, their body temperature is dictated on what their environment is like. If it’s hot, they’re hot, if it’s cold, they’re cold.

So let me put it in perspective for those that don’t get it: image yourself immersed in an ice bath, but instead of shivering to warm up, YOU JUST GET COLDER AND COLDER. Do you know how PAINFUL it is to be put in ice water?

It’s fucking painful.

Now, let’s come to another point: you see those snakes on the bottom of the tank? They aren’t down there by choice… THEY SANK DOWN THERE.

And let’s look at this lovely picture:

A snake belly up is NEVER a good sign…

These pictures are taken off of their Facebook page. And they have also said that their producers have checked to make sure that there is no animal abuse going on. BULLSHIT.

So what can you do now that I’ve got your blood boiling?

You can go to their Facebook page Killer Karaoke and you can sign this petition to stop the show. You can also get a hold of the ASPCA to file a complaint.

recently i learned that crows and ravens have a baffling habit of sneaking up on other animals and pulling on their tails

the behavior seems to be relatively universal among various species of crows and ravens across the world

they seem to do it with anything they can find that has a tail, ranging from something as small and harmless as squirrels to something as large and deadly as eagles

i have absolutely no idea what their motives are, other than to be mischievous and cute

Amazing Animal Rescue of the Day: A wounded, malnourished wolf that had fallen into the freezing cold waters of the Limentra near Camugnano in the Italian province of Bologna was rescued and resuscitated by members of the the Monte Adone Centre for Conservation and Research of Exotic and Wild Fauna earlier this year.

The wolf, given the name Navarre, was found to be partially paralyzed and in an extreme state of hypothermia. He was brought to a nearby residence, where the Centre’s staff and other volunteers warmed and dried him up.

Later, at the Centre, Navarre was found to have been shot multiple times with lead pellets, but, happily, the bullets did no major damage to his internal organs.

Slowly, but surely, the treatment and rehabilitation are beginning to take hold. Navarre still has quite a road ahead to full recovery, but the Centre says the tenacious animal “day after day demonstrates a strong temperament and an increasing desire to live.”
